WHOOPIÕS MAGICAL ÔVIEWÕ

WHOOPI’S MAGICAL ‘VIEW’: Comedienne and moderator of ABC Daytime’s hit morning chatfest “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg – portraying The Genie from Disney’s hit animated film “Aladdin” – takes a mischievous tug on a Magic Carpet soaring high above the Agrabah desert in the newest image created for Disney Parks by world-renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz. Designed as a sister image to the “Aladdin”-inspired image Leibovitz created with international superstars Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony riding a Magic Carpet, the image of Goldberg is reminiscent of the 1992 award-winning film. Also serving as an inspiration for the image: the “Magic Carpets of Aladdin” attraction at the Magic Kingdom theme park in Florida and the “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” show at Disney’s California Adventure theme park in California. The image is one of the new Leibovitz photographs unveiled to celebrate Disney Parks’ “Year of a Million Dreams.” Since January 2007, Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida have commissioned Leibovitz to create images featuring international celebrities in fairy tale settings. Other Leibovitz images that Disney Parks has released feature tennis ace Roger Federer as King Arthur in “Sword in the Stone”; actress Julie Andrews portraying the Blue Fairy from Disney’s “Pinocchio” with her apprentice fairy, portrayed by starlet Abigail Breslin; actress Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella; singer/actress Beyonce as “Alice in Wonderland”; and soccer star David Beckham portraying Prince Phillip from Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty.” Other new Leibovitz images just released by Disney Parks include international superstars Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony as the royal heiress Princess Jasmine and the streetwise “diamond in the rough,” Aladdin; supermodel Gisele Bündchen, dance legend Mikhail Baryshnikov and actress Tina Fey portraying a scene from Disney’s “Peter Pan”; and actress Jessica Biel as the brave Native American “Pocahontas,” from Disney’s 1995 animated film.
